Hello-Hello, happy bright new week to you!
Today’s post is brief, touching on a topic receiving scant coverage in this space: Irish preppy style. The lack of posts on the topic is really rather shameful, considering your faithful scribe’s heritage. At any rate, we saw a little something that piqued our interest, reaction to a relatively new endeavor, the Ireland Shirt Company.
Paraphrasing Lisa Birnbach’s classic line, it’s almost a “Look Muffy, a shirt for us!” moment as described in this Irish Central story.
“Come look at this! It’s preppy Ireland!” These were the words of an excited Irish lass as she grabbed her friend to check out the shirts at the Ireland Shirt mobile store at the 2013 Great Irish Fest of New York City earlier this year.
The story about the relatively young brand explains the shirts were created as an alternative to the stereotypical Irish imagery, the “Kiss Me I’m Drunk or Irish or Whatever” sort of fare frequently seen on apparel and accessories. There are 100% cotton tees like those shown above, along with as polo style shirts in performance textiles that are well suited for the golf course and other sporting locales.
The company’s wares have done well and additional items have been added to the merchandise mix.
Fittingly, the company logo is a silhouette of Ireland.
Ireland Shirt products are actually sold via Shirts of the World.
I’m sure some of our treasured readers not only know of the brand, but wear them. The boots are especially suited to riding and sailing.
